Dear Mini, yesterday you turned 3! I haven't had much time to write in this blog unfortunately - trying to juggle work and parenting during a pandemic has been very challenging! Yes, since I last wrote, life has certainly changed. You had been attending playschool for one year when the first lockdown began and you stayed home with us for four months!

After being home with your parents for so long, it was a bit of a adjustment for you when your daycare opened again. In order to help you to settle I collected you most days after lunch so you were only there for a half day and let you take your naps at home. Unfortunately you no longer felt comfortable taking naps at Kita any longer. Gradually you settled and loved going there and I was able to leave you in there for a full day some days during the week when I had to work.

You had a best friend in your class, J, a little boy the same age as you. The minders commented that it was a bit of a love/hate relationship at times because you two also fought with each other frequently as you both learned to be more assertive! Myself and his mother became friends and we would meet at playgrounds at the weekends and it was so cute seeing the two of you play together.

Then Germany went into a second lockdown in December and your daycare was closed again. I felt sad on your behalf as you really loved going at that stage. There was a new minder in the group who you had lots of fun with and because of Covid restrictions once the daycare opens again next week you'll be moved straight into a new group for 3+ year olds, with no chance to say goodbye to all your friends from your previous group.

Your Dad will be bringing you to daycare and staying with you the first few days to help you adjust. I am anxious for you, hoping it all goes well!

Your english is currently a lot better than your German. Certainly your spoken English is amazing. You are such a quick learner and pick up new words really easily! Your favourite thing to do is to play with your lego duplo / Frozen figurines and make up all kinds of little scenarios with them. You love climbing, dancing and singing and often make up your own songs. We have so much fun together, you are my favourite person in the whole world.

You are sweet, caring, funny and full of personality. I'm looking forward to what this year brings and please God once this pandemic ends we'll be able to travel to Ireland so you can spend time with our family there!

Alway and forever, Mama x
